Finding inspiration in everyday beauty

Inspiration does not always arrive in dramatic ways. Sometimes it is found in morning light that comes across a familiar path, the stillness of a Forest, or the way a simple scene can carry a sense of grace. These small details can become powerful visual stories when viewed with care and intention.

Reflection and creativity

Early June is a beautiful time to pause, reflect, especially here in Western Montana when the June rains happen. Whether my focus is a flower, landscape, or an image inspired by nature, the goal remains the same: to make something meaningful that endures, and to capture what God is showing me in His creation and capture that.

This Month's Feature is the Wildflower called Bear Grass. Montana's spiky forest star.

Why is Bear Grass Called Bear Grass?

Bears have a close relationship with Bear Grass.  Bears feed on its softer, fleshly leaf basses as they emerge from hibernation and use its long leaves for bedding material in their winter dens.

It is also worth noting that bear grass (Xerophyllum tenax) is neither a true grass nor is it exclusive to bears.  It belongs to the bunchflower/lily family and is a critical resource for elk, deer, and pollinators.

My love for Bear Grass has changed over the years from oh this is interesting to holy moly, to spectacular overabundance of blossoms!! These images where taken in the high mountains and were photographed in July where the snow finally melts.

From Landscape images to Macro close-up images this wildflower is truly amazing!

Here is a very small sample of my collection of Bear Grass wildflowers.
